Position: Lead Buyer Long Products Europe (LPE) logistics, special focus on port services, barging, warehousing
About the role
- Lead Buyer for LPE logistics services, orchestrating and consolidating the LPE logistics value program inside of the EPO Logistics category
- Special focus on (and placed in EPO logistics subcategory of) port services, barging and warehousing for raw materials and finished products; as well supporting the FPE segment in these areas
- Identify best price and service ratio and develop/drive TCO solutions. Barging and ports solutions can include rail and truck segments to be negotiated
- Develop and implement purchasing strategy for the sub-category
- Ensure that all the sites (plants) requirements are covered in due time with the best solution
- Work closely with internal customers, Supply Chain, heads of production departments, in sites across Europe to ensure effective strategic procurement, TCO reduction levers and business continuity
- Collect and challenge business needs with internal customers
- Estimate/analyse supplier P&Ls and businesses and derive strategic buying and TCO approaches
- Responsible for strategic sourcing with focus on TCO optimization
- Deliver savings and subcategory KPI targets
- Send requests for quotations and negotiate with the potential suppliers
- Perform spot buying when required
- Negotiate and sign contracts (with support of legal department if needed)
- Be accountable for deployment of global contracts/agreements including performance and efficiency management (based on KPI)
- Participate in (or delegate) transversal working groups focused on back-office process standardization, and establishment of procedures / compliance
We are looking for a person
- You hold a master’s degree in Economics, Engineering or Supply Chain
- You have a successful track record in procurement with about 5 years of relevant procurement experience
- As a Lead Buyer you show drive and business acumen in identifying and realizing value opportunities across the full business scope of logistics, inspiring and coordinating your close partners in EPO Logistics as well as in the LPE Transport & Logistics units
- As a genuine buyer, you have problem-solving and analytical skills and a good ease facing numbers
- You have a good technical knowledge of contracts drafting but also in project management and negotiation
- You can discuss on technical/logistics topics as well as implement and manage change
- You combine a strong personality/leadership and communication skills
- You are socially engaged, make easily contact with colleagues in an international context and can develop a network within the organisation
- You can discuss technical topics with users and technically evaluate different suppliers
- You have an appetite for finding information on innovative solutions and for market analysis
- You are result and customer oriented, can work under deadline pressure and manage change
- You are fluent in English and can preferably speak German, French or Dutch
