The Role:
M&G Luxembourg S.A. is a Super ManCo (UCITS ManCo & AIFM with certain MiFID top-up permissions). It has grown rapidly over the past 5 years becoming one of Luxembourg's largest and most complex management companies with assets under management in excess of €130bn across a wide range of private and public asset classes. Along with being M&G Investments' international fund distribution platform, it is also the Head Office for its European offices.
To provide support to the office of the Chief Executive Officer – M&G Europe (“CEO”) focusing initially on the stabilisation of the business and scalability and its longer-term positioning for success. As part of office to the CEO, provide guidance in the operational running and strategic direction of the business. This role will seek to ensure M&G Luxembourg’s corporate governance arrangements are effective and efficient, meeting M&G plc’s standards and local regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- To lead the design and implementation of sound operating models and effective governance & oversight frameworks, including the development of M&G Luxembourg’s Governance structure, leading to a sustainable model that helps the achievement of M&G’s strategic objectives for the Luxembourg-based entity and European business.
- Co-ordinate and lead strategic change initiatives, engaging with relevant functions across M&G Luxembourg and the wider M&G Group, seeking engagement with all relevant teams whilst minimising impact on business as usual activities and ensuring successful delivery to the business.
- Work with multiple M&G Group functions (such as Risk, Compliance, Finance, Legal, HR, Operations, IT, Audit as well as areas such as Product Development and Strategy) in order to establish effective working relationships and support execution and implementation of M&G Luxembourg’s strategic plans.
- Effective Management of Risk & Controls, including supporting the review and re-set of the operational issues that currently exist in the business and be aware of new products and funds in the pipeline to ensure appropriate scalability and have the right resources and capabilities to support them.
- To contribute to the delivery of the business plan, ensuring alignment at all times between the business plans, resources and risk appetite of M&G Group.
- To assist the CEO with identifying strategic priorities and define, prioritise and monitor actions and plans related to the execution and implementation of the business strategy that optimise growth and performance.
- To work closely with the M&G Luxembourg Senior Leadership team and the M&G plc International Strategy team in developing and setting the strategic goals and plan for the Lux entities and European Branches.
- Provide support in the development of initiatives connected to the M&G plc People Agenda
- Set an exemplary standard of personal conduct and integrity; acting as a role model for leadership. Require equivalent standards of others with regard to both the conduct of the business and customer relations and broader relationships and responsibilities in the communities where the business is established.
- Ensure that the CEO is kept informed of all key issues and keeps the M&G Luxembourg Board and Executive Committee appropriately briefed.
- To ensure that M&G Luxembourg’s European operations are in line with M&G Group policies, decision making frameworks and reporting obligations.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- A good understanding of an asset management business and highly beneficial to have Luxembourg Management Company knowledge and in particular appreciation of dynamics, and processes of a business across Luxembourg, Europe and Group operations, including an understanding of the regulatory environment.
- An ability to contribute to the development of the strategic direction, priorities and plans of Luxembourg, constructively engaging with and challenging peers.
- An ability to identify, assess, monitor, control and mitigate risks and communicate these to the executive office function and the wider M&G business.
- An ability to assess the effectiveness of the arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls across the executive office function and, if necessary, to direct changes in these areas.
- An awareness and understanding of the evolving regulatory framework in which M&G operates.
- An awareness of the duties, obligations and expectations of M&G Luxembourg’s Directors and those of its Senior Management Functions and Conducting Officers.
- An ability to identify opportunities to leverage technology to drive operational efficiencies within the business.
- Significant experience of coordination, influence and negotiation at all levels of an organisation to gain trust and respect, including internal and external stakeholders.
- An ability to assess, react promptly and decisively to problems once identified, taking decisions where needed to ensure delivery.
- Ability to understand the end to end components of the businesses within M&G plc to make connections and highlight opportunities.
- Project manager experience and ability to navigate through organisational complexity, orchestrating business transformation and purposeful change
- High level of diplomacy, discretion and problem solving ability. Strong personal presence and resilience with the gravitas to operate effectively at senior level.
- An ability to operate effectively in a complex, matrix environment.
