Key Responsibilities:
1. Reliability Engineering & Technical Support
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) for chronic issues in EAFs and steel shop equipment.
- Develop and implement reliability improvement plans for mechanical, electrical, and automation systems for low performer Steel shops.
- Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams for troubleshooting and chronic problem resolution.
- Establish preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to ensure asset reliability and longevity.
2. Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Promote lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to improve process performance and reduce waste.
- Lead or participate in cross-functional teams to implement improvement initiatives in productivity, energy efficiency, and cost reduction.
- Standardize operational best practices and ensure compliance with procedures and safety standards.
3. KPI Monitoring and Performance Management
- Define and track reliability and operations KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, downtime, energy consumption, yield, and OEE.
- Analyze data trends to identify performance gaps and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare and present weekly and monthly reports to management with actionable insights.
4. Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with operations, maintenance, planning, and quality teams to align goals and drive operational excellence.
- Liaise with equipment vendors, OEMs, and consultants as needed to resolve complex technical issues.
- Conduct training and knowledge transfer sessions for operational and maintenance staff.
5. Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Metallurgical, or Industrial Engineering. Master's preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a steel manufacturing environment with hands-on exposure to EAFs and secondary steelmaking.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance and reliability principles (RCM, TPM, FMEA).
- Familiarity with CMMS systems and industrial data analytics tools (e.g., PI System, Power BI).
- Proven track record in KPI management and continuous improvement projects.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Certification in Six Sigma, Lean, or Reliability Engineering is a plus.
6. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Equipment availability and reliability (MTBF/MTTR)
- Energy consumption per ton of steel
- Furnace yield and productivity
- Number of unplanned downtimes or stoppages
- Implementation rate of improvement initiatives
- Cost savings generated through reliability projects
7. Languages:
- English proven fluency.
8. Travel rate:
- Up to 50 %.
