Senior Legal Counsel – Group Funding & Treasury Support
As Senior Legal Counsel – Group Funding & Treasury Support you will provide strategic legal support on a wide range of complex financing operations, including project financings tied to investment in plants, property, and equipment across our global operations.
In this high-impact role, you will act as a key legal advisor for group-level financing transactions, offering legal insights that align with business objectives. This includes structuring, negotiating, and executing financing agreements under various jurisdictions. You will also play a critical role in dispute resolution strategies and legal risk management.
You will be based at our headquarters in Luxembourg and report directly to the Head of the Group Funding / Treasury Support Department.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert legal support on financing transactions (bilateral, syndicated loans, project finance, and bonds), including drafting and negotiating complex agreements across jurisdictions (notably Indian, UK, US, Luxembourg, and French law).
- Participate in internal and external meetings, supporting or leading negotiations with banks, institutional partners (e.g., European Investment Bank), and other stakeholders.
- Advise on and manage legal aspects of disputes and settlement strategies when necessary.
- Manage relationships with external law firms, ensuring quality, efficiency, and alignment with budget and business needs.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to financing and treasury activities.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues in Legal, Finance, and other departments to ensure consistent and proactive legal risk management.
- Contribute to legal best practices, team knowledge-sharing, and cross-functional improvement initiatives.
Education & Bar Admission
Bar qualification from a common law jurisdiction (preference for India and/or UK).
Experience
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in an international law firm, corporate legal department, or financial institution (e.g., European Investment Bank).
- Proven track record in handling high-value financing transactions (syndicated loans, project financing, bonds, etc.).
- Industry experience or exposure to legal support within complex industrial or multinational environments is a strong asset.

Languages
Fluent in English (mandatory); fluency in French is highly desirable. Other languages are considered an asset.
