Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join our European Mortgage team in the Luxembourg Branch.

About us

Handelsbanken Luxembourg Branch started its activities in 1978 and is part of Handelsbanken Global Banking. We support the Bank’s customers in the focus markets with their international business. The Branch core business is mortgage lending in Spain, Portugal and France and Private banking. Handelsbanken is a relationship bank with a decentralised way of working, with a long-term approach to customer relations. The focus and culture of Handelsbanken is always on the need of the individual customer, not on the sale of specific products.

We are looking for a Mortgage Officer who will be part of a team of seven staff members, servicing existing and new clients. The main responsibilities will be the following:

  • Promote our mortgage offering and represent the Luxembourg branch within our home markets branches in Sweden and Norway and externally
  • Negotiate Mortgage conditions with the customers and Home Branches
  • Onboarding new clients
  • Prepare Limits/assignments for the new lending offered to our customers as well as annual reviews
  • Support customers throughout the mortgage process
  • Collaboration with business partners such us: notaries, valuers, estate agents etc.
  • A certain level of travelling will be required
  • Work with the Private Banking Team to develop client opportunities

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate must be fluent in English and a Nordic language. French would be an advantage. The role will require regular contact and interaction with the branches as well as the ability to interact and develop client relationships.

The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Experience with Mortgage/lending
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • A good team player and multitasking is essential
  • AML / KYC knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills in English and a Nordic language. French would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of banking / financial services products and services
  • Enjoys marketing through presentations internally, and externally towards clients
  • A mindset to make profitable business for the Bank with satisfied clients
