Responsibilities

• Expertise and Design Contribution
• Contribute directly as an individual contributor when necessary (visuals, UI, marketing materials).
• Maintain and create design component libraries.
• Collaborate with Engineering to integrate design systems.
• Team Output and Quality
• Review team deliverables and provide actionable feedback.
• Ensure design work meets business goals and quality standards.
• Oversee adherence to design rules and design thinking processes.
• Team Management and Mentorship
• Prioritize tasks and manage team schedules.
• Ensure tickets are documented and assets are prepared.
• Act as the main point of contact between the team and stakeholders.
• Negotiate deadlines and scopes of work with stakeholders.
• Mentor team members to improve both technical and soft skills.
• Conduct weekly 1:1s and quarterly performance reviews.
• Assign projects to support career growth.
• Team Health and Culture
• Foster a productive, collaborative, and inclusive environment.
• Encourage cross-functional collaboration with PMs, POs, BAs, Engineers, QAs, etc.
• Represent and advocate for Design Department values and standards across the organization.
• Run team meetings to ensure information flow and team alignment.
• Collaboration and Stakeholder Management
• Translate requests into actionable design requirements.
• Collaborate with other leads on cross-functional projects.
• Work with stakeholders to align on business priorities and improve team processes.
• Ensure designs are properly implemented with engineers.
  
  

Requirements

• 5+ years as an individual contributor in design roles.
• Proven leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and influence team members.
• Experience negotiating with Product and Engineering stakeholders.
• Expertise in UI design tools: Sketch, Figma, InVision, Adobe XD.
• Advanced proficiency in Photoshop; working knowledge of Illustrator and After Effects.
• Strong knowledge of responsive web and mobile design.
• Familiarity with design systems like Google’s Material Design and Apple’s HIG.
• Basic working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
• Familiarity with AI tools for creative tasks (e.g., ChatGPT, DALL·E, Midjourney, Freepik).
• Experience with JavaScript libraries and frameworks.
• Knowledge of 3D design tools, WordPress, and Bootstrap.
