Deputy Head of Financial Institutions Luxembourg
ING Wholesale Banking has an interesting opportunity available for an ambitious professional with a strong commercial, project and management drive. We are looking for a hands-on, commercially driven colleague to support the Head FI Luxembourg with steering and expansion of the Financial Institutions Coverage Team in Luxembourg. Hierarchically you will report locally to the Head of Financial Institutions Luxembourg. The ideal candidate will have a strong commercial drive, understanding of FI clients, products and dynamics, strong analytical skills, has strong understanding of Credit Risk and Non Financial Risk and strong analytical skills.
Key responsibilities
As Deputy Head of FI Luxembourg, your responsibilities include the following:
- Support the Head of FI Luxembourg, with management, change, projects and credit processes, and be a member of the WB Luxembourg management team.
- Be sparring partner to the Head FI Luxembourg. Take responsibility over allocated tasks.
- Provide energy and drive to refine, and adapt ING’s FI strategy centered on sales excellence and execution. Take initiatives in commercial steering on sales effectiveness and marketing efforts, dashboards, pipeline oversight and performance to budget.
- Generate ideas and take action on frictions that impact sales excellence and effectiveness, especially on KYC. Lead on KYC acceleration.
- Support the Head FI Luxembourg on Financial Crime Compliance matters. Provide guidance on compliance processes to the team. Be the linking pin to Amsterdam HQ Compliance. Use your network to optimize FI Luxembourg compliance performance.
- Be sparring partner to the Head FI Luxembourg on transaction structuring, credit risk appetite and portfolio strategy. Be the credible communicator to local and global credit risk and front office mandate holders for all FI products. Provide guidance to the team on credit risk issues.
- Provide guidance and inspiration to a team of 10 salespeople, product managers, and account managers, keeping commercialization as the priority, retaining talent, and developing future leaders.
- Support the Head FI Luxembourg with development and execution of sales strategies to deliver best-in-class local and international Cash Management, Trade, and Depository Solutions (Custody) with a view to achieving/exceeding budget and supporting cross-selling and product development.
- Participate in external industry committees in understanding trends and defining industry requirements.
- Help the Head FI Luxembourg realize the full potential of the sales team with a particular focus on the development of market-leading competencies for global solution delivery.
- Ensure full observance of, and adherence to, applicable compliance and other regulatory requirements and guidelines.
- Ensure that the business operates with an acceptable risk tolerance and adheres to regulatory parameters.
- Develop and coordinate knowledge sharing and foster a culture of collaboration, client focus, continuous improvement, and innovation. Ensure a culture of inclusiveness.
- Be the ambassador and energize the people strategy and ING business principles including ING's Orange Code.
Your profile and required qualifications
The ideal candidate:
- Is a self starting banker with strong communication skills and wide experience in management and change. Demonstrates an edge to get things done.
- The candidate has the credibility and long term Wholesale Banking experience to add value and act as the sparring partner to the Head FI Luxembourg but can also lead on allocated topics.
- Has commercial drive based on a thorough understanding of the Luxembourg NBFI (financial sponsors, asset and fund managers, investment management firms, private equity firms), banks, and insurance companies.
- Demonstrates to have strong Credit Risk and Compliance skills supported by a broad network throughout ING where he/she can act as credible counterparty.
- Has strong knowledge of corporate cash, trade, fund finance, depositary and custody business, and derivatives. Has experience working in an organization where sales are not only booked in-country but also throughout the network.
- Demonstrates excellent influencing, facilitation, and partnering skills; ability to build strong internal and external networks.
- Possesses superior problem-solving skills and strong analytical capabilities.
- Is resourceful and adaptable to work in frequently changing environments with excellent risk management skills.
- Has excellent interpersonal skills, negotiation, teamwork, and the ability to gain the confidence of people by understanding their needs and agreeing on deliverables.
- Has a proficient level of written and verbal English language.
- Has a MSc in Business or Finance and preferably a relevant Financial Crime Compliance diploma.
