Do you want to join our rockstar team of innovators and make a REAL impact in the sustainability space?
Circu Li-ion is driving the green revolution by reusing batteries through our cutting-edge automated battery disassembly lines. We offer this technology as a service model to recyclers, micromobility & automotive OEMs. Our vision is to deploy the battery disassembly lines in a hub and spoke model around the globe to disassemble Li-ion battery packs into reusable Li-ion cells or modules, minimizing waste and maximizing sustainability. By upcycling these cells and modules into second-life CO2-neutral battery packs, we are revolutionizing the way batteries are reused.
The Role
As a Senior Engineering Technician at Circu Li-ion, you will be a hands-on expert assembling, testing, and troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical systems for our cutting-edge battery disassembly technology. With meticulous attention to detail and proficiency in hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments, you’ll transform designs into functional prototypes and production-ready machinery.
Working closely with engineers and cross-functional teams, you’ll debug systems, optimize performance, and ensure every component meets our high standards of quality and sustainability.
This role is perfect for a skilled technician who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and takes pride in turning innovative ideas into tangible, world-changing solutions.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead hands-on prototype builds, mechanical assemblies, and system integrations for custom disassembly machinery and tools.
- Translate complex mechanical designs and drawings into working assemblies with high precision and craftsmanship.
- Partner closely with mechanical and controls engineers to debug, optimize, and iterate on early-stage systems.
- Provide DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) feedback during product development cycles.
- Design and fabricate jigs, fixtures, and prototype components using CNC, manual machining, and fabrication tools.
- Manage the workshop environment, including equipment, tools, materials, and safety compliance.
- Own the prototyping bill of materials (BOM), vendor sourcing, and custom part ordering in collaboration with engineering and procurement.
- Assist with the integration of actuators, motors, sensors, pneumatics, and control hardware into working machines.
- Support first-article testing, validation, and troubleshooting of full machines and robotic cells.
- Mentor junior technicians and help standardize best practices across the prototyping and assembly team.
- 6+ years of experience in hands-on mechanical prototyping, machine assembly, or special-purpose machinery development.
- Deep mechanical knowledge and experience working from CAD (Inventor, Fusion 360, or similar) and complex drawings.
- Skilled in fabrication and machining: CNC milling, turning, manual tools, welding (preferred), and general shop equipment.
- Strong understanding of tolerancing, fasteners, materials, and mechanical design principles.
- Experience integrating mechanical systems with pneumatics, actuators, or automation components.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, iterative R&D environment with minimal supervision.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Strong documentation habits and familiarity with version-controlled build processes.
Preferred skills:
- Experience with robotic tooling, high-voltage component handling.
- Understanding of electromechanical systems, sensors, wiring, and basic control integration.
- Familiarity with rapid prototyping tools (3D printing, laser cutting, etc.) and digital fabrication workflows.
- Exposure to lean product development or agile, multi-disciplinary engineering environments.
- High degree of collaboration and autonomy while working with a group of highly skilled, committed and supportive peers
- Transparent culture with flat hierarchy where everyone of us is highly valued
- Development of your professional skills and knowledge by taking ownership of challenging tasks and responsibilities, supported by Leads and peers
