The Chief Risk Officer for NTGS SE will be responsible for embedding our enterprise risk framework (localised where required by jurisdictional regulatory requirements) in Luxembourg and for providing local oversight and leadership for all 2nd line risk activities in Luxembourg and the branch network in Switzerland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Abu Dhabi. The role will be a senior management position in Luxembourg and the successful candidate will be a member of the local authorised management team.
The role will report functionally to the International Chief Risk Officer and locally to the CEO of the Luxembourg Bank.(NTGS SE).
Responsibilities of the role
Provides Risk Management and Leadership Oversight for NT Activities (and Associated Risk/Compliance Functions) for NTGS SE and its branches including Operational Risk, IT/Cyber Risk, Compliance, Fiduciary Risk and relevant financial risks.
Works closely with the CEO of NTGS SE and other Senior Leaders in Luxembourg to understand current and planned business activities and to identify, assess and mitigate risks in the business and embed a risk culture.
Be a senior contact point for local regulators (CSSF) and where appropriate other visiting regulators e.g. FED
Reports locally to CEO and functionally to EMEA CRO and be a trusted advisor to both.
Has full appreciation of prudential regulatory requirements, credit risk issues, compliance risk and market/regulatory developments and ability to assess impact and identify associated risk issues.
Local management for the Luxembourg Risk and Compliance function
Oversee the activities of the branches of NTGS SE from a Risk and Compliance perspective ensuring that issues are dealt with consistently and within overall risk appetite for the entity.
Working with Risk and Compliance partners across the EMEA region, ensuring appropriate interaction with regional and global Risk and Compliance functions
Assist the Luxembourg businesses in managing the operational risks in those businesses and assist in setting up the appropriate frameworks to manage those operational risks – including third party, offshoring and operational resiliency risks.
Act as Co- Chair of the Luxembourg Management Risk Committee
Participate in Group-wide and EMEA risk forums as appropriate.
Lead, manage and develop the team of 2nd line professionals within the risk and compliance teams.
Requirements
Extensive experience in risk and compliance, (Several years ideally in either professional services firm or relevant financial institution)
Professional Qualification in Accountancy/Legal/Audit /Compliance
Extensive experience of Banking/Asset servicing /asset administration/depositary business
Meaningful exposure to risk and compliance and a clear appreciation of internal Control/Governance and Oversight ability to operate on/at board level
Strong leadership qualities with proven experience of presenting to executive and board level audience
Clear/logical problem solver
Confidence to challenge as appropriate
Strong communication skills able to articulate messages in both written and verbal format
Management experience (Small /professional teams)
