About Satispay
Satispay stands as a recognised leader in the European FinTech landscape, a company where a relentless drive for achievement is powered by a clear, impactful mission. We were born from a powerful vision to revolutionise everyday payments, making them simple, fair, and accessible to everyone. Our strategic imperative is to continue shaping the future of money by simplifying complex financial interactions to profoundly improve people's lives.
As a high-growth scale-up, Satispay represents a dynamic environment at the forefront. Joining our team means stepping into a critical role with the authority and responsibility to drive significant business outcomes and shape the strategic trajectory of the company and the industry.
We are powered by a culture of ownership, relentless execution, and strategic foresight. We are brave in our approach, making courageous decisions and tackling challenges head-on, underpinned by a deep sense of responsibility for sustainable, ethical, and long-term success.
What you’ll be doing
As a Chief Risk Officer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of digital payments by establishing and leading the company's risk management framework. Reporting directly to the financial institution’s CEO, you will ensure Satispay's continued growth is underpinned by robust risk identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring and reporting strategies.
You thrive at the intersection of compliance, technology, operational excellence, and growth. You know PSD2, MiFID, AML, GDPR — but you also understand how modern technology stacks operate, how infrastructure scales, where cyber threats emerge, and how third-party dependencies can introduce systemic risk.
In this role, embodying ownership and a commitment to craving impact, you will be expected to deliver significant results by:
Strategic Risk Leadership: Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive enterprise-wide risk management framework, policies, standards, and procedures aligned with regulatory requirements (e.g., CSSF, EBA, ESMA) and industry best practices. Within the first year, you will be expected to lead a full-scale review of the existing risk framework, current risks and tolerances, to identify and prioritise key enhancements.
Comprehensive Risk Assessment: Proactively and consistently identify, assess, and prioritise all material risks across the organisation, in conjunction with the business teams. These include operational, financial, credit, technological, information security, compliance, and strategic risks.
Control and Mitigation: Develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies and controls. You will continuously monitor the effectiveness of these controls, providing regular reporting on risk exposure to the Authorised Management, the Board of Directors, and relevant committees as required. You will nurture relationships with business teams to partner on mitigation activities, with the right degree of pragmatism to find business-effective solutions.
Regulatory and Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies, including the CSSF, on all risk-related matters, inquiries, visits and inspections. You will ensure full compliance with all applicable regulations in Luxembourg and other operating countries while fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Internal Audit.
Culture of Risk Awareness: Champion a strong risk-aware culture throughout the organisation, providing training and guidance to employees at all levels on risk management principles and their responsibilities.
Team Leadership & Development: Lead, coach, and nurture a high-performing, specialised team, including Heads of Departments and Senior Management. Your ability to mentor and collaborate with transparency will be paramount to driving impact and achieving scale.
Who we’re looking for
We are seeking a proven leader with a distinguished track record of success in driving strategic initiatives and achieving significant business growth within relevant sectors.
You will lead by example, combining ambition with purpose, drive impactful results and cultivate ownership and continuous improvement in our dynamic environment.
Extensive Experience: 7+ years of progressive experience in risk management within the financial services industry, with a significant portion in FinTech, payments, or a rapidly growing scale-up environment.
Regulatory Expertise: Deep understanding of European financial regulations (e.g., PSD2, MiFID, GDPR), particularly those applicable to e-money institutions. Experience navigating complex regulatory landscapes across multiple jurisdictions. Previous experience in applying for licenses or interacting with financial regulators is a strong plus.
Strong Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with key decision-makers and stakeholders, both internally and externally, including frequent collaboration with external advisors. Excel at working cross-functionally in a fast-paced, evolving environment with multiple priorities, and communicating effectively to the C-suite.
Strategic and Growth Mindset: Proven ability to develop and execute solution-oriented risk strategies that support business growth while maintaining a strong control environment and focusing on the continuous improvement of risk management practices.
Leadership: Exceptional leadership skills with a proven track record of managing and developing high-performing teams, including C-level and Head-level reports.
Communication: Fluency in English is required. Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively engage with all levels of the organisation, regulators, and external partners are essential.
Passion for FinTech: A genuine passion for fintech, digital innovation, and user experience, with a keen interest in the evolving payments landscape.
We recognise that exceptional leadership comes in many forms. If you believe you have the vision, experience, and drive to help us shape the future of money, we encourage you to apply. We value the unique perspectives and strengths that exceptional leaders bring, even if their experience doesn't align with every listed requirement.
Why this is your place
This is a unique opportunity to leverage your experience and leadership to make a profound impact on a company poised for significant future growth. We operate on a principle of reciprocity: significant strategic impacts are met with meaningful rewards and opportunities.
Shape the future: Play a pivotal role in defining and executing the strategy that will propel Satispay to its next level of success in Europe and beyond, shaping the world of money.
Drive transformative impact: Lead critical functions and initiatives that directly contribute to our mission and impact millions of users and businesses.
Operate in high-growth: Thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment that demands bravery, resilience, and rapid, decisive action at scale. Experience the excitement of navigating growth where change is constant and the customer base/services are rapidly expanding.
Significant Equity participation: Direct share in Satispay's success through a competitive Stock Option Plan designed to reward leadership and contribution to company growth and raise the bar for collective success.
